Leaving Hamburgsund early, I set off to make my way to get as close to Goteborg as possible and was then due to head south to meet up with an old friend. The towns and roads were all very similar – lots of flat arable land. Lots of Gallerias – creative people open up their houses or small outbuildings in Sweden where you can view and buy their work and sometimes they even make tea/coffee etc’. It’s very nice and a lovely way to get to see more authentic work.

As most know Sweden has a very nice design side, the famous IKEA represents much of what Sweden design is, very simple and clean and ‘white’. Home-makers will take pride in their gardens and flowers that they have growing up and around the outside of the house – ohh yeah the smell of roses. That’s what I will remember about Sweden – the smell of roses – its lovely and the way Swedish people have flowers and pots placed in the windows and nicely design textiles in their houses.

As it was now Sunday, the millions of people that flocked to the coastline for midsummer were making their way back home or to the cities. The miles of traffic of people trying to move from the islands was some sight. They all drove past me as I was huffing and puffing trying to get up a very steep hill and then once up it, I free-wheeled the whole way down – must have been past 5km of traffic – being on a bike has its advantages…sometimes.
