about

My name is Alison or Ali and this is more of a diary for friends and family – there maybe hints of technical bike stuff and perhaps some thoughts on bike touring – but im no pro.

So about me, (as the click title suggests)… well there isn’t that much to tell. I guess the most wondering question is to why I am doing this and the answer is a similar story to lots of other people. I was in a situation where stuff happened and I made a promise to myself to make the most of my life – I absolutely LOVE living. I love the daily smells and words spoken, the odd happenings and the many characters of the world. Infact, really perhaps its more that I’m scared of dying (sure there is a word for that?) either way im intrigued to travel, see and learn.

My background in a nutshell. Did school, art college, university of which I grauated in design and then Masters in design too. Then I worked for a small company in Wales, called howies. Re-trained as a Massage Therapist so I could work and travel. Joined the cruise ships to ‘work and travel’ and went to many many incrediable places (more than I could ever have wished for) then now, I’m bicycling about.

What I love… I love english tea, hot toast with tonnes of REAL butter. I love the cold rain on my face . I love the way bumble bees bumble along all sort of fat and bumbley. I love swimming in the cold sea and lakes. I love blue sky and green land. Suppose I cant go without saying that I love riding my bike – I do, I really do… but recently you know…I’m wishing to be in one of the Danish campervans that I see so much of in Norway – they go up the hills alot faster than me. What else… I love looking back over the past few years and smiling from ear to ear with good memories.

Ohhh, so also another important thing is the route I am traveling around on. It is the North Sea Cycle Route. When I figure out how to use this website then I can hope to put links on. My days are not tied to it exactly, I just follow the direction of it and potter about on the way. It takes you around the coasts of England, Scotland, Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Germany, Holland and Belgium. Lots and lots of people do it – either in small sections or over different periods of time or just in one go like me.
