day of rest

Finally, I was just waiting for a good day to rest and feel at peace with the location I was staying at. Rattray Bay was everything that I needed. The hostel was nothing switz swoo – but it was just basic and rugged and everything that I wanted.

I had one of the best sleeps for a long time – even though the wind was howling like some crazy hurricane, my mind was at ease and it was lovely. Woke up this morning and made a cup of tea and crumpets. Was just plain lazy this morning – no rush, no hurry, long hot shower and more tea.

Later on I headed out to walk a 10mile beach walk, amongst the windburn and whipping of sand storms on my legs, it was very nice. There were seals bobbing around – following me up the beach – I named one particular character Sealey and whistled some songs to him until I ran out of words.

The day ended with some new arrivals at the hostel – they were campers and were staying the night to get out of the wind. The Irish fella fed me some more Whiskey and I headed to get some sleep after a great day of rest – kind of don’t want to leave and get back on the bike tomorrow.
