Left Amble on a brilliant full English breakfast – was the best! The journey started off nice with a good bit of sunshine smiling down – found these odd little statues made from old iron bits from the local farms.
Then headed North to arrive at Springhill Campsite for before 2pm so my I could meet the ‘Support Team Parents’ and make it over to Holy Island/Lindsfarne.
I remember working when I was much younger -my first bar job, in the Tap and Spile (an old man’s real ale pub) and anyway we served for the ladies this Lindsfarne wine – so not really for holy reasons or historical reasons but I was keen to see this place – to see how the packaging of the wine reflected this island, to see what it was about. And, well it was very nice indeed, a little rainy but really nice. The wine was good too – very sweet but lovely.
The island is only accessible at certain times of the day and then the tide comes in and covers the road. If you get stuck on the way from island to land or visa versa then there are these tall wooden shacks that you can stay in – would be sort of cool to spend the night in one – of course only if you were stocked up and fully prepared – just be interesting.
