This railway track has some fond memories and it is actually part of the North Sea Cycle Route. It’s funny as we were just discussing ‘the GPS’ again and all the if’s and but’s and possible’s surrounding it. However, all we have been thinking about in terms of finding out how good this device is has been focused entirely on this small section of ‘the Railway Track’ from Scarborough to Whitby. We stopped to think for a second that there is life and cycle routes beyond ‘the Railway Track’. We’ve been up and down it so many times that it’s laidened with memories and thoughts– its the safe and secure part and after it, neither of us know what there is.
I have this one memory of my dad, sister and I trundling down the railway track (must have been about 6 years old) – me on sitting on the back bike rack of the Raleigh Shopper and if my memory is still correct, for comfort I had a pillow or a bit of foam to sit on, tied with a bungee cord. Legs were at a stiff and straight 45 degree angle for at least 2 hours and that track was (and in fact still is) riddening with pot holes and ditches. Bloody uncomfortable.
